Quotes From The American Taliban

Quotes from the The American Taliban

"Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."
"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed'"

Beverly LaHaye (Concerned Women for America)

"You telling these miserable, Hell-bound, bath house-wallowing, anal-copulating fags that God loves them!? You have bats in the belfry!"

"Not only is homosexuality a sin, but anyone who supports fags is just as guilty as they are. You are both worthy of death."

Gary North (Institute for Christian Economics)
"The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion–must be denied citizenship."
"This is God's world, not Satan's. Christians are the lawful heirs, not non-Christians."

Gary Potter (Catholics for Christian Political Action)
"When the Christian majority takes over this country, there will be no satanic churches, no more free distribution of pornography, no more talk of rights for homosexuals. After the Christian majority takes control, pluralism will be seen as immoral and evil and the state will not permit anybody the right to practice evil."

"AIDS is a racial disease of Jews and Niggers, and fortunately it is wiping out the queers. I guess God hates queers for several reasons. There is one big reason to be against queers and that is because every time some white boy is seduced by a queer into becoming a queer, means his white bloodline has run out."

James Dobson (Focus on the Family)
"Those who control the access to the minds of children will set the agenda for the future of the nation and the future of the western world."

Lester Roloff (Texas Homes for Wayward Youth)
"Better a pink bottom than a black soul."*
*Roloff opened a chain of homes for "wayward" youth in the state of Texas; he was later jailed in 1973 and again in 1975 for child abuse due to the punitive punishment techniques used in his homes. He would have been finished had he not of been specifically given permision to re-open his homes by, you guested it, Governor George W Bush.

Michael Savage (Savage Nation)
"Oh, you're one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it."*

Comments:
I don't want to drink from this tall glass of turbid water. How could anyone who enjoys the easy living in our country be so misguided?

I didn't read all the comments. I just picked a few from here and there. I get the idea. I was a discussion about this with someone in a forum, but I obviously am not aware of how deep this hole is.

It disturbs that they manufacture truth from lies and think themselves righteous for supporting it.

You need to post this to a permanent web page, I'll link to it.

What a great resource. Have to point out that the "Rick Santorum" quote identifies his alias as "Santorum." In fact, he is now known as Senator Man-On-Dog.

These people frighten me beyond words. But to demand or enforce their silence is to defeat our own deeply held convictions about free speech and the exchange of ideas. Free and independent media (free from corporate sponsorship) is the only solution. We must, as a culture, necessarily generate heaps upon heaps of rubbish like this, but we must not forget the task of mining the diamonds from the dustheaps via independent media.

It would be great if these quotes had links to reputable sources.

These People are not CHRISTIANS! These people are evil beyond words and everything they practice evil. They are the satanists. These Radical right-wingers. I may be a christian but I know what the true meaning of christianity is and I was taught that it meant to love thy neighbour! This isn't christianity! This is Extreme Right Wing Diatribe. I have no problem with Gays or Lesbians, I have trouble getting use to people who are openly gay in public as it is a little different to me. But, I accept them for who they are. I know there are good christians who remember the bible tells you to help the poor and impovershed and it tells you to help the people in the world. I am sick of these Right Wing Zealots pushing their religion down our throats. I hope that every liberal in America spreads the True Gospel. If Homosexuality is a sin I believe it cannot be worse then murder. But, I refuse to believe that because Homosexuality has been around as long as marriage has.

I read the first couple quotes but then became physically ill.

Up here in Canada we have a little thing called bill C-250. What is does is prohibits hate speech against people for their skin colour, race, religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

The bill was well designed. It protects all clergy, allowing them to continue practicing their faith while cutting down those who would spread hate.

Here is a link to a great site along with details of bill C-250. I think that if a similar bill was put into effect in America it would make it a safer place and put all these hate mongers in jail.

See. Even you can't believe that this stuff comes out of their mouths.

I thought I was pretty welleducated about the religious right, but until I read these quotes, I had no idea how vicious these people really are. I can't get my head around the way they are able to square their brand of all-encompassing moral nastiness withthe the one who said, "Turn the other cheek", "Love thy enemy", "Be ye wise as serpents and harmless as doves" and "The spirit of the Law gives life, but the letter kills."

Hi - I was searching for blogs about associations and found yours. Reason I was searching for associations is I have one and I'm looking for ways people run theirs.

Cutting-and-Running on a Stronger America

There is a spiritual crisis in America where empathy and mutual responsibility are being drained out of our culture. As Michael Lerner, author of “The Left Hand of God” points out, on the one hand you have the globalization of a categorical selfishness where every single aspect of life is being reduced through the prism of being savvy or efficient. This has left us with a culture starved of those spiritual needs that our uber-Darwinian consumerist society cannot possibly satisfy because it does not fit in its paradigm of “efficiency.” On top of that, the sacred in religion is now constantly being assaulted, secularized, and corrupted by the conservative political machinery, mixing it with political maneuvers such as the constitutional marriage amendment and the chipping away of Roe v. Wade. I have witnessed how the conservative movement has led us into a situation that spells disaster for our American household and the symptoms are all around us because they are more interested in power than actually leading foreign countries in taking more responsibility for their citizens and in addressing the basic needs of the majority of Americans. Every year thousands of economic refugees flee their homelands and immigrate to our country because of the irresponsibility and refusal of their governments to take care of their own people. The Iraq occupation has become not just a symptom of President Bush’s betrayal of the trust of our soldiers, our Congress, and us, the American people but even worse, the occupation of Iraq has become the quagmire that restrains our hands on the War on Terror. The occupation has become a symptom of the conservatives’ overall refusal to follow responsible moral norms like responsibility coupled with empathy in the international community. Conservatives even want to undermine the sanctity of love and commitment by refusing to recognize it in gay and lesbian relationships via a constitutional amendment that would define marriage solely as one between a man and a woman. By the looks of it, you would think that the conservatives nowadays want to avoid the responsibility of choosing their own mate and would rather have their government telling them who they can and cannot marry. In each of these areas the conservative ideology often stubbornly chooses their ‘stay the course’ disastrous policy. Simply put, the conservative paternalistic-authoritarian ideology doesn’t cut it anymore because it falls short on producing leaders that will be wholesome responsible and empathetic ones.
Quite frankly, I must say that the conservative’s authoritarian-patriarchal worldview has been asphyxiating if not down-right disastrous. As George Lakoff, author of “Don’t Think of an Elephant!” explains, we frame our worldviews in terms of families and communities, so it is not surprising that we deal with the world around us in terms of being a parent. Like ALL Americans, I have BOTH authoritarian and nurturant frameworks guiding my worldview. I just happen, unlike the conservatives that only use the authoritarian one, to prefer the balance of both in my life and in the world around me. Thus like many progressives, I prefer the gender-neutral parent worldview because I believe that BOTH authoritarian and nurturant worldviews should share a mutual responsibility in the rearing of our society. For this reason, I believe in taking care of our own, leaving no one behind, and in fixing the root of the problem rather than merely treating the symptoms via an authoritarian (and sometimes extremist) model. I for one refuse to have a defeatist attitude and will not cut-and-run myself by surrendering America to the conservative movement’s pillage of her. We need a more wholesome and stronger America rather than the current incompetent “strong defense” policy. Why should we settle for just a defense-only policy? I mean in warfare and sports not to mention the management of a country we all know that you cannot get by with just a defense … you have to have a comprehensive and effective infrastructure set in place. I believe that we deserve the things that go hand-in-hand if not beyond strong defense such as an effective government that is truly for and by the people, rather than only serving corporate gluttony. I believe that we should be entitled to a broad prosperity, a better future, an effective government, and mutual responsibility. The conservatives LOVE to talk about ‘free markets,’ ‘lower taxes,’ ‘smaller government,’ and ‘family values.’ Yet they hide the fact that they use government and private institutions to promote corporate welfare and destroy true free market competition so that it can benefit only a small percentage of people, a.k.a. the rich. They lower taxes on the super-wealthy (on the pretenses that they are for “small business”-yeah right!) to bankrupt and thus destroy social programs that help Americans become financially stronger and by doing so display a treasonous attitude, as they turn their backs on our country’s investments for prosperity. They love to cut-and-run on mothers and kids that depend on welfare and food stamps with a strict run-away father-mentality of “deal with it, it is your responsibility!” Yet at the same time they cut-and-run on other social programs that are investments in our people and our communities like education and health care, police and fire protection, disaster relief, highway maintenance, environmental protection, etc. In a dichotomy, they drool over a “smaller government” but yet they favor a ballooning out-of-control Frankenstein-like military-industrial-complex of which Republican-War Veteran President Eisenhower warned us about over half a century ago. Lastly, they claim to promote “family values” but yet when it comes to actually accepting a wholesome ideology they just come short on things like honoring love, commitment, and a “Love Thy Neighbor” social program policy. They just don’t get it when it comes to American values of wanting an all-around stronger American community both economically and spiritually with a broad prosperity, a better future for all, an effective government, and mutual responsibility.
Meanwhile over in the progressive community, regardless of which brand of liberalism one may espouse, we share the values of mutual care and responsibility that has consistently been eroded by the globalization of a reductionist selfishness that permeates our entire culture. We want for not just the individual to take personal responsibility for his or her personal life but also for our government to take responsibility for its duties to strengthen our nation. We want a government that promotes not just defense from terrorism but defense from those things that harm us in a much more immediate and pervasive way. In essence, we want an effective government (not an incompetent smaller one) that promotes the values of care and responsibility in our American family where each one of us may realize our dreams and aspirations. We want people to be treated fairly, enjoy freedom, and have access to opportunity so that our nation as a whole may prosper. We want a culture of cooperation and of service to the community both here and abroad. We want truth, honesty, and open communication to safeguard our democracy, be it in the media, in political discourse, in foreign diplomacy, in electoral fraud-prevention, or in our homes and communities. These are our values in the progressive community and we must be proud of and state them clearly every chance we get in every aspect of our lives. In addition, we must also stop shying away from the fact that we liberals are spiritual creatures by nature and as such we need to stop our arrogant discourse that we somehow are above right-wing religious theocrats because we are ‘value-free,’ ‘competent,’ and ‘professional.’ On this point I agree with Michael Lerner, author of “The Left Hand of God”: we progressives have always had and will continue to have our own set of values and we need to acknowledge that they are indeed, of a spiritual nature. ALL progressives intrinsically already have these universal values and make no mistake: they are of a religious nature whether they like to admit it or not and this is true whether they are a militant secular leftist, a “spiritual but not religious” liberal, or a religiously pious individual that just happens to be a progressive.
